About ME
Hi there! I am Ana María Sagastume Amaya. Welcome to my blog!
Given the urgency of biodiversity conservation, the decision arises to deepen my knowledge of environmental sciences, and day by day I confirm that it is my purpose as a scientist. I firmly believe in the sustainable use of natural resources and the importance of mitigating the negative impact on the environment.
I am currently a junior student majoring in Environmental Management Engineering at Dr. José Matías Delgado University, El Salvador and I am truly passionate about the application of geographic information systems (GIS) for environmental management. At the same time, I consider myself an enthusiastic, dedicated and trustworthy person, with high standards of responsibility in my work. I am always eager to learn and succeed in challenges.
Besides my academic work, I enjoy spending my time researching. I am carrying out an investigation on the vertical and horizontal structure of the plant community in Cerro Tecana, Santa Ana, El Salvador, in order to conserve the low-deciduous forest and protect it under the national framework of Protected Natural Areas.
At this time, my career is focused on landscape conservation through ecosystem and ecological niche modeling, as well as natural capital-based valuation, human-wildlife conflict resolution, and forest management.
If you want to have more insights about me, make sure to never miss a new blog entry!
